Marvel Heroes
Unlock powerful skills and unleash your powers.
Team up with other players and characters as you adventure.
In Marvel Heroes, you were able to choose and play one of the most loved superheroes from the Marvel Universe. Beginning with 10 characters to choose from, you were able to embark on your journey to stop Dr. Doom from controlling the Cosmic Cube.
Dr. Doom had created an army of the most powerful supervillains to defend him as he worked with the Cube. It was up to you and your allies to stop him. Once you had chosen your character, you were able to begin your adventure.
The gameplay was elegant, with a top-down view of your character as you traveled through the world using the mouse. When you saw an enemy, you had your left and right mouse buttons with your attacks, as well as several hotkeys with other useful abilities or powers.
As you would have expected from an MMO game, there were items and credits that dropped from the creatures you fought, as well as other special tokens that could be used to unlock new superheroes or special items.
As you explored, there were quests that you could complete which rewarded experience and sometimes items. Your experience counted towards your level, and the higher your level, the more powers and skills you had open to you.
Each character had three different types of skills they could spend points in. These skill trees were unique to the character and led to the ultimate ability. Some skills required a certain level before you could use them, and many items granted extra skill points.
In addition to credits, there were also Eternity Splinters. These could be collected by defeating enemies and were used to unlock new heroes or costumes for your current characters. You could also purchase Gs from the game for real money, which could be used to buy all of the above and much more.
With a fun storyline bringing together many of the best characters Marvel created, there was a huge appeal to this game. Blended with a really fun game style, interesting mechanics, and great character progression, Marvel Heroes was a fantastic game.
Even if you were not such a fan of the comic characters, this game was beautiful to play all by itself. Fabulous 3D graphics brought the heroes and villains to life and added a really nice quality feel to the game. With so much to do and so many characters to play, you were in for a fabulous time in Marvel Heroes!
However, all good things have to eventually come to an end. According to Disney, they decided to terminate their partnership with Gazillion Entertainment, the developer of Marvel Heroes, and as a result, the game had to be discontinued. Marvel Heroes was officially shut down on November 27, 2017.
